ENGLISH:

On-Campus Opportunities

  • Volunteer at Mt. Pleasant Hispanic Center as a tutor for elementary children or help to teach the adult ESL classes.
  • Tutor Elementary and Middle School Students at Orchard Apartments or through Allison Hill Tutoring
  • Build relationships with high school students by volunteering through Young Life, Abba’s Place, or New Hope ministries.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children in the Harrisburg area by forming a meaningful relationship with one through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program.

Post-Graduate Opportunities:

  • Teach English to immigrants
  • Teach English as a second language in other countries
  • Tutor inner-city kids in English
  • Edit publications for non-profit organizations
  • Write articles reflecting Christian values
  • Write response articles
  • Wycliffe school librarians
  • Wycliffe Librarians: responsible for keeping an orderly system of handling books and materials on hand essential to linguistic analysis and the translation of Scriptures into indigenous languages.
  • Write for Sojourners magazine
  • Technical writers, journalists, and inspirational writers help communicate the exciting task of Bible translation for Wycliffe.
  • Much of Wycliffe's translation and literacy work involves linguistic research. If you currently do Spanish, French, or English technical writing or editing in a business, academic, or government-related field, you may already have the basic skills Wycliffe needs.
