Dr. Robert Reyes speaking

Biographical Sketch: Robert Reyes

Dr. Robert Reyes is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor of Family Science and Multicultural Studies, and Director of the Latino Partnership Program at Messiah College. Prior to his move to Pennsylvania in 1996, he resided in Southern California where he taught part-time at Azusa Pacific University and worked as Coordinator of Mental Health Services for the Family Preservation Program, at Foothill Community Mental Health Center. He received his Ph.D. in Marital and Family Studies (1995) and Master of Divinity in Marital and Family Ministries (1992) from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is a Certified Family Life Educator and member of the Board of Directors (2004-2007) of The National Council on Family Relations, and Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

My research interest so far have focused on exploring how the stress associated with acculturation impact Latino families in their transition into this country as well as what strength do these families have in coping with this type of stress.

I have also been interested in doing international family research examining couple formation practices and work and family dynamics in Spain. What follows is a description of the academic presentation and publications that I have done in the past.
