Vision: To be a model of a dynamic Career Center which demonstrates the strength of integrating Christian principles with the career development process. Mission: The Messiah College Career Center prepares students to design & manage their careers in a way that demonstrates a mature integration of faith and lifelong learning. To enhance student learning and expand career opportunities, we are committed to strenghening the relationship between our campus and external organizations. Our services will reflect the best of both traditional theories and progressive development models and will utilize innovative, interactive technology systems. Programs Offered Accounting Night – September 2001 Co-sponsored in cooperation with the accounting department; approximately 11 employers participate. Capital Area Consortium Graduate & Professional School Fair – October 2001 Co-sponsored in cooperation with Elizabethtown College; approximately 30 – 40 graduate schools participate. Biblical Studies Seminary Fair – October 2001 Held in conjunction with the CAC Graduate & Professional School Fair; approximately 20 seminaries attend. Health Professions Job & Internship Fair – November 2001 Gives our Nursing & Dietetics majors the opportunity to interact with employers in their field; approximately 20 participate. Technology Job & Internship Fair – November 2001 Gives our engineering, computer science, & business information systems majors the opportunity to discuss various possibilities in their field; approximately 19 organizations participate annually. Middle Atlantic Association of School, College & University Staff (MAASCUS) Teacher Job Fair, Hershey, PA – November 2001 Over 100 school districts participating. Cumberland Valley Consortium (CVC) Job & Internship Fair, Frederick, MD – February 2002 Gives students in majors such as accounting, behavioral sciences, business, communication, computer science, liberal arts, and physical & life sciences, the opportunity to interact with 100+ employers; co-sponsored in cooperation with 12 other colleges & universities from MD, WV and PA. Senior Week – February 2002 Features events & special programs geared toward preparing our seniors for life after graduation; co-sponsored with the Alumni Relations Office. Central Pennsylvania Employment Consortium (CPEC) Job & Internship Fair, Lebanon, PA – February 2002 Opportunity for potentially all majors to interact with nearly 140 employers; co-sponsored in cooperation with 16 other colleges & universities in PA. Liberal Arts Job & Internship Fair – March 2002 Internships & employment opportunities for all majors; approximately 20 organizations come to campus. Helping Professions Job & Internship Fair – March/April 2002 Primarily recruiting students from the behavioral sciences; approximately 20 organizations are represented. Teacher Recruitment Day – April 2002 Co-sponsored in cooperation with 12 other colleges & universities in PA; education majors may interact with over 90 recruiters representing more than 300 schools from large districts across the country - 11 states, including Hawaii. Recruiting Services for Messiah Students Resume Exchange Service Seniors may submit their resume at http://messiah.jobdirect.com (<<<BROKEN LINK). By submitting their resumes, they will have access to hundreds of job opportunities that are posted at Messiah College from local, regional and national employers. On-Campus Recruiting Employers periodically come to campus to recruit students. Students may participate in our On-Campus Recruitment Program by submitting a resume to http://messiah.jobdirect.com (<<<BROKEN LINK). Resume Critiques Students may drop off their resumes in the Career Center. Suggestions are given for enhancements and their resume is returned via campus mail. All resumes submitted by seniors through the resume exchange service will be critiqued prior to being added to the database of resumes. Workshops The Career Center offers several workshops to help students prepare for the job search: Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills, and Job Hunting Techniques. Interviewing We offer video-taped practice interviews to help students prepare for a job interview in their chosen field.
