  • Coordinates collaborative initiatives among the various External Program areas
  • Promotes and advocates off-campus experiential learning opportunities
  • Provides administrative leadership for credit-bearing international programs
  • Develops policies and procedures for international programming
  • Serves as the College liaison with Messiah's international program partners
  • Cooperates with General Education in providing administrative and logistical support for delivery of college-wide cross-cultural courses

Mary Ann Hollinger was invited to Messiah College in the fall of 1997 to assume leadership of the newly-created area of External Programs. As Dean of External Programs Dr. Hollinger currently coordinates the academic programs at Messiah which are delivered with one leg off the Grantham Campus. These include the Agapé Center for Service and Learning, the Career Center, The EpiCenter and International Programs, the Internship Center, the Latino Partnership, and the Messiah College-Philadelphia Campus.

Symbolic of the College’s mission to “educate men and women...for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation,” Dr. Hollinger assists with distributing “towels of service” at Messiah’s annual graduation ceremonies.

Mary Ann earned her B.A. degree from Goshen College, Goshen, IN; an M.A. from Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, NJ; and an Ed.M. and an Ed.D. from Columbia University in New York City. She has also pursued post-doctoral studies at Oxford University in Oxford, England.

Dr. Hollinger’s area of disciplinary expertise is Family Science. Over the years she has taught 11 different courses in the Family Studies area. Along with her administrative responsibilities, she currently teaches two courses a year in Messiah’s Department of Human Development and Family Science. An abbreviated resume follows.
