FAQs - Campus

Messiah University is located in the rolling hills of south-central Pennsylvania, minutes from the state capital of Harrisburg. The campus is surrounded by the Yellow Breeches Creek, a wooded nature trail and has its very own covered bridge. A smaller, self-contained and bicycle-friendly campus, students can walk from one side of campus to the other in about 10 minutes.

Messiah enrolls nearly 2,800 undergraduate and 600 online graduate students each year.

We typically hover around 40 percent male and 60 percent female.

Messiah bases its standards of conduct on the broader principles of its Community Covenant, a document that fully outlines expectations for students living in community together. Messiah’s campus is an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free environment. There are more specific expectations for living in on-campus housing, which you can find in the Student Handbook.

Messiah University is based on a two-semester calendar. The fall semester usually begins in late August and extends through mid-December. The spring semester begins in January and extends through early May.

College is more than just going to class and studying. You’ll receive an outstanding education during your time at Messiah—but you’ll also grow in your faith, experience fun and excitement and make lifelong friendships. Discover more about life on campus.

While there’s plenty to do on campus, we realize you might want to explore the surrounding area, too. Luckily, we’re only a short drive from Harrisburg—Pennsylvania’s capital city—and many other towns and metropolitan areas. Within just a few minutes of campus, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shopping, entertainment venues, movie theaters, galleries, coffee shops and museums. Learn more about things you and do and see in our handy area guide.
