Why I Love Messiah: It is very difficult to describe why I love Messiah because there are so many different aspects I love. I love the passion the students have for sports and in particular soccer. I love the professors who are willing to go out of their way to help a student thrive in their academics. I love the scenic 400+ acre campus and the Yellow Breeches Creek in our backyard. Most of all, I love being in a faith community that enriches and encourages constantly.
My friends would describe me as: I think my friends would describe me as social. I tend to talk a lot if you give me a chance and I also ask a lot of questions. I enjoy learning and getting to understand where someone comes from and the things that make him or her unique.
Favorite Spot on Messiah’s campus: Health & Exercise Science labs in Jordan Science Building. It has the coolest equipment and I spent a lot of time there my senior year.
Favorite meal served in Lottie Nelson Dining: My favorite meal in Lottie Nelson has to be the fried Pangasius (fish), it is delicious with some Mac & Cheese on the side. It doesn’t get any better.
Best place to visit around Messiah: I tend to love food, so my favorite place around Messiah to visit would have to be a few restaurants. My favorite restaurant list includes Pakaha’s Thai Restaurant, Yellow Bird Café, Home 231, Alvaro’s Italian Restaurant and Bricco.
Hello and thank you for inquiring about Messiah College. My name is Allan Mathew and I graduated from Messiah in May of 2013 with a major in health and exercise science. I am honored and pleased to be working with you and to serve as your admissions counselor! I understand how difficult searching for a college or university can be and I hope that I can be of help to you during this process.
As a recent graduate, I look back on my time as a Messiah student with fond memories. Attending Messiah helped me realize who I was as a Christian and a student. Messiah helped me develop intellectually, spiritually and socially, and I hope to use those skills to connect with the community. Messiah’s faculty members served as mentors to me and helped to lead me to my current role as an admissions counselor. I am forever grateful for the countless life lessons that were learned in my four years. I also remember the wonderful fall evenings when my friends and I would cheer for our excellent soccer team or go out and walk by the Yellow Breeches Creek. My passion for music was always met when bands like Iron and Wine, NeedtoBreathe, Relient K and Griffin House performed at the school.
I hope to meet you soon at a high school visit, college fair or a local youth event. I encourage you to pray about your college search and please stop by and say "hello" to me here at Messiah. Come and take a tour, meet the students, grab a bite to eat, sit in on a class, talk to a professor or come to one of our games. I promise you won’t be disappointed with the experience you will have at Messiah College.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me! Send me an email at AMathew@messiah.edu or call me on our toll-free number 800-233-4220. Also please be sure to fill out our questionnaire so we can figure out how to help you! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
