How do online courses work in Messiah College’s
graduate programs?
Faculty members have the option of using either Sakai or Canvas as a learning management system (LMS) to deliver online graduate courses. Messiah College is in transition and by Spring 2014 all courses will be taught using Canvas.
Courses and coursework can be delivered asynchronously
(on your own schedule) and/or synchronously (live). The course's learning management system provides learning spaces for each course
that allows faculty and students to collaborate asynchronously through forums,
blogs, email, and wiki tools. It also provides the ability for faculty and
students to communicate synchronously through a chat tool, real-time audio, video, shared whiteboard and desktop sharing.
