Guidelines for a Visit to The Oakes Museum of Natural History

LATE ARRIVALS

If your group will be arriving late, contact the museum immediately (717-691-6082, option 2).

CHAPERONES

Students must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times. We request a chaperone:student ratio of 1:5 for pre-K to 3rd grade and 1:8 for 4th to 6th grades.

BEHAVIOR
Teachers and chaperones are responsible for the behavior of their students at all times while visiting the museum. All students must stay with their chaperones. We reserve the right to ask any disorderly group to leave the building. Under this circumstance, refunds will not be granted.

LUNCH
If your group is eating lunch at the museum, please each class's lunches in a box.  Lunches will be stored inside the main door on the Entry Level. All lunches should be stored together and disposed of in the trash and recycling receptacles. The Larson Student Union, located right behind the Jordan Science Center, which has an outdoor eating area, is used for lunch.  In case of inclement weather, an indoor eating area will be available. Museum staff stays with your group during lunch and will make sure everyone knows where to go and what to do.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Cameras are welcome, but we may ask overzealous photographers to wait until the end of our presentations.

FOOD, DRINKS, CANDY AND GUM
Food, drinks, candy and gum are not allowed in the museum.
