Athletic Training

If you have an interest in sports, enjoy science, love to work with others, and have a heart to serve, then a career in athletic training may be a good fit for you.  Athletic training is a growing allied health profession which prepares students to provide athletic training services to athletes and the physically active. Nationwide, public and private educational institutions, professional teams, sports medicine-related clinics, hospitals, and industrial/corporate organizations indicate a need for certified athletic trainers.

If you are considering careers in athletic training or physical therapy the Athletic Training major at Messiah College may be of interest to you. Students graduating from our program are eligible to sit for the Board of Certification exam where they can become certified as an athletic trainer. Our BOC pass rate for the previous three years (2010-2013) is 95.8% (23 of 24). The following provides results for Messiah College candidates compared with national candidates over the last three BOC exam years. This data is available publicly in compliance with accreditation standards as required by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Additionally, students that take specific coursework to meet graduate school requirements often pursue a physical therapy education and eventually become dually certified as an AT/PT.
