Nationally Recognized Accreditation
Accreditation is a hallmark of excellence in institutions of higher education. To achieve accreditation, colleges and universities must meet strict quality standards in areas such as academic degree programs, faculty, co-curricular programs, technology, student services and fulfillment of institutional mission. Studying at an accredited institution, such as Messiah College, also ensures that course credits and degrees that you earn here will be accepted by other colleges and universities that are accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Since 1963, Messiah College has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Higher Education (3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2680. Telephone: 267-284-5000 ). Middle States is the highest accrediting authority recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for degree-granting colleges and universities located in Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several other locations internationally.

Messiah College also has many academic programs that hold additional accreditation from, and have met the educational quality standards of, the following accrediting agencies that are specific to their individual disciplines:
Accreditors Approved by U.S. Secretary of Education: The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), Commission on Accreditation; National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), Commission on Accreditiation; National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), Commission on Accreditation.

As an active participant in current developments in higher education, the College also holds educational memberships in many organizations, including the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, the Council of Independent Colleges, the Christian College Consortium, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
