LEAP (Learning through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy)
A group for people preparing for or experiencing a life
transitionWhether you are transitioning into a new routine or into a new
major, starting a new relationship or ending an old one, adjusting to
life away from home or anticipating life after college; change is a
reality in each of our lives that tests our faith and courage.
LEAP is a research project based on a 6 week long experiential
learning group that will use the modality of Equine Assisted Therapy to
help participants explore the social, spiritual and emotional
dimensions of the life transitions they are experiencing or
anticipating. At least four of the sessions will be outdoors,
participating with horses on the ground (unmounted) in group
initiatives designed to build skill and awareness in the areas of
self-efficacy, self-awareness, mindfulness, identifying and responding
to our fears, communication and trust. Depending on the weather, up
to two sessions will be indoors in a discussion format as we seek to
apply insights from the realm of equine behavior to the challenges in
our own lives. Participants will be asked to complete pre- and post-
surveys at the start and end of the group.
Date: Saturday, September 29 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $10 for lunch and materials
The group will be limited to 8 participants.
