Pictured: President Kim Phipps and Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra
Maestro Stuart Malina before "Elijah," the April 2014 inaugural
performance of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Messiah's Calvin and
Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts. The symphony was
accompanied by Messiah College choral ensembles—the Messiah College
Concert Choir, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society and the
ensemble-in-residence, Susquehanna Chorale.
President Phipps is an active, visible leader of Messiah College. She intentionally builds relationships with students, employees, parents, alumni, and community friends.
President Phipps is well connected to Messiah students:
they look forward to events at her residence, Orchard Hill, and hang
out with her at Pizza with the Prez
events in the residence halls. She has 2,400 (and growing) Facebook
friends and can be seen in the stands at athletic events, in the
audience at theatre performances, concerts, lectures, and chapels, and
serving pancakes to weary students during finals week.
President Phipps is a passionate advocate for Messiah
College and its community of students, employees, and alumni. She
represents Messiah on a number of local and national boards.
President Kim Phipps’ personal involvement in the local
community through her board service along with the thousands of hours
Messiah students spend in service in the greater Harrisburg area has
positioned Messiah College as a socially-conscious, leading institution
of higher education in central Pennsylvania.
