The Centennial Ball: May 1, 2010

A Centennial Ball committee planned all the details, including the communications, for this milestone event during the College’s Centennial year (2009-2010). A teaser poster and email, a webpage, an on-campus invitation, follow-up informational posters and coasters for Lottie Nelson Dining Hall all were designed to provide information about and to generate excitement for the student event.

The committee also planned the layout and design of the room where the ball was held as well as the menu for the event. On the evening of the ball, the room was magically transformed into separate venues representing four different eras – 1920s, 1950s, 1980s and “present.” The menu and décor were symbolic of each era.

To Change the World - McBride: September 12, 2011

Messiah College celebrates the Common Reading Program each year by hosting a public lecture that highlights the chosen common reading text. For 2011-2012, the College invited James McBride, author of the New York Times best-seller, “The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother,” to campus. McBride’s memoir was selected for the third time as Messiah College’s required  text for all first-year students.
