Guest Relations/Apartment Host

POSITION:

Guest Relations (7 positions available)

HOURS:

40 hours weekly (scheduled for 5 out of 7 work days); 8-10 hours per day

WAGES:

$7.25 + room compensation

PRIMARY DRESS:

Khaki shorts, and college issued MC t-shirts and polos

SECONDARY DRESS: (when appropriate or required by a supervisor)

  • Men: Tie, dress shirt, and dress pants
  • Women: Dress or skirt and nice blouse

REQUIREMENTS:     

  • Must reside on campus and live in an apartment;  may not choose to live off campus.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Weekend and evening work
  • Restricted - no vacation day, unless approved by the Conference and Events Coordinator, are as follows:  Second week of May, last week of June and first week of July.

PRIMARY DUTIES AS RELATED TO CONFERENCES:     

  • Responsible for coverage of the Conference Services Guest Relations Desk in the Eisenhower Campus Center:

2 days off per week
Office hours: Sunday-Saturday 7:30 AM - 11:00 PM
Shifts are assigned in 8-10 hour intervals.
Generally consists of 7:30 - 4:00 or 2:30 - 11:00 shifts, but may vary depending on conference schedule.

  • Organize the Event Description book and maintain the AM and PM checklists daily.
  • Answer the telephone and respond to all guest related questions. Serve as a resource person.
  • Take care of last minute changes and deal with minor conflicts as they arise.
  • Conduct periodic rounds throughout campus to check on conferences in whichever buildings they are assigned.
  • Coordinate distribution of meal tickets for conferences.
  • Work closely with the Conference & Events Coordinators and Director of Conference and Event Services.
  • Monitor athletic facilities
  • Responsible for issuing and collecting keys seven days a week.
  • Work with assigned conferences as defined by specific registration and check out times for the conferences.
  • Maintain the key storage cabinet, regulate, and enforce the use of keys.  Abide by key control policy.
  • Inventory and verify keys before and after each conference.
  • Understand the key coding system.
  • Merge key forms and arrange according to the instructions for each conference.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining housing floor plans (and/or list of conference participants).
  • Welcomes/Greets attendees.
  • Answers attendees' questions, give directions as requested.
  • Available to assist attendees even during off-duty hours.
  • Work with Head Custodian to solve building problems.
  • Act as a liaison between Conference Service Office and conference attendees.

SECONDARY DUTIES:     

  • Assist the Conference Services Tech Crew, Laundry Services, and Campus Events staff as needed.
  • Set up sound and other materials or equipment.
  • Assist the Sound & Lighting Technical Coordinator, Sound & Lighting Technician, and Event Assistants as required.
  • Various Duties as assigned.

NOTE: Employee selection is based on an application and interview process.  Sick time and other absences due to mission work, etc. over and above the required 10 days will be charged to your tuition account for from and board.
