Professor Thomas Chilcote came to Messiah College in 1987 from a ten year career with British Petroleum, one of the world's largest oil and gas groups, where he held significant accounting positions of increasing responsibility. This included the accounting and financial analysis for the trans-Alaska pipeline system's $3 billion in revenue, assets and liabilities.

After he began at Messiah, he co-established a fully-integrated writing program for upper-level accounting courses, and presented and published a paper regarding this program. He has taught in an off campus CPA review course. He has taught Personal Finance and has completed manuscript reviews of Personal Finance by Kapoor, Dlabay, and Hughes.

He provides consulting and accounting services to area businesses, and gives investment seminars on retirement planning. He is married and the father of four children, two still in college.  Additionally, he has three married stepchildren and five step grandchildren. He volunteers at a local Nursing Home with his family and preaches at a local church when given the opportunity. He has facilitated Dave Ramsey video seminars, grief support groups, and Experiencing God studies.

His undergraduate degree is from Ithaca College and his M.B.A. is from Cleveland State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor.
