Dr. Michael E. Nagel Jr., DBA, CMA

Prior to coming to Messiah, Dr. Nagel was at Texas Christian University where he led the center for executive education and taught in the MBA program.
Dr. Nagel brings an 18 year career as an executive in the management consulting industry. This career path enabled him to travel globally and be significantly involved in developing the capabilities organizations need to carry out large-scale changes and realize strategies. He was SVP and Corporate Governance Practice leader with Palladium / Balanced Scorecard Collaborate. He also founded and led VERITAS Strategic Management Services and was a client manager with KPMG. Across these experiences he has worked with over 3,000 executives / board members in at least 100 client organizations internationally. He has meaningful cross-industry experience with top organizations in financial services, government, manufacturing, health care and non-profit sectors. His work also includes considerable involvement with support functions such as finance and administration, information technology, human resources, marketing / sales, executive office and corporate boards. American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Swiss Re, Northwestern Mutual, Microsoft, BP, US House of Representatives, Canadian Blood Services, Fender Musical Instruments and SER National are among his clients.
Client awards and recognitions which are tied to Dr. Nagel's work include the National Governance Award from Conference Board of Canada/Spencer Stuart, the Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame Award for Executing Strategy from Palladium and the Bank Director Governance Award from Bank Director Magazine. His thoughts have been featured by outlets such as Harvard Business School Press, Directors Monthly, American Institute of CPA's and the Certified Management Accountants of Canada. He is a Certified Management Accountant and serves on the board of Penn Christian Academy.
As a graduate student, Dr. Nagel worked at the Penn State Entrepreneurial Research Center learning to evaluate and strengthen the candidacy of new ventures for early-stage funding.
Dr. Nagel and his wife have been married for 20 years and together they are raising two boys. He also enjoys the sport of triathlon.
