About Us

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Mission is to prepare students to serve and lead with excellence as they pursue Biblically grounded, evidence based practice in Nutrition, Food Service, and Dietetics. 

Department Goals and Objectives:

To prepare students to succeed in dietetic internships, graduate school or entry level jobs in nutrition and dietetics or related professional settings.

  • Over a five year period, at least 80% of the full-time Nutrition and Dietetics majors enrolled in the junior level DPD courses will complete the major within 3 years.
  • Over a five year period, at least 60% of seniors in the Nutrition and Dietetics major will apply to CADE accredited dietetic internships and at least 80% of those applying will be successful.
  • Over a five year period, at least 90% of first time test takers will pass the Registration Exam for Dietitians.
  • Over a five year period, at least 80% of graduates from the Nutrition and Dietetics major will be employed in a professional setting related to nutrition and dietetics or enrolled in a postgraduate education program two years after program completion.
  • Over a five year period, the overall preparation of at least 80% of the graduates from the Nutrition and Dietetics major will be rated as good or excellent by the internship directors, work supervisors, or graduate school advisors who return the alumni supervisor survey.

To nurture students' ability to integrate Biblical Principles and scientific evidence as they practice nutrition and dietetics.

  • Over a five-year period, at least 75% of seniors in the Nutrition and Dietetics major who complete the exit survey will report that the program's performance in this area is "good" or "excellent". 
  • Over a five year period, at least 80% of Nutrition and Dietetics major alumni returning the Alumni Survey will rate the program's achievement of this goal as "good" or "excellent".

To promote professional development, leadership, mentoring and collaboration, and community service.

  • Over a five year period, at least 75% of the seniors in the Nutrition and Dietetics major who complete the exit survey will rate the achievement of this goal as "good" or "excellent".
  • Over a five-year period, at least 80% of alumni from the Nutrition and Dietetics major who complete the Alumni Survey will rate the program's achievement of this goal as "good" or " excellent".
  • Over a five year period, at least 75% of the alumni of the Nutrition and Dietetics major who complete the alumni survey will report some form of continuing professional development (internship, graduate school, other professional certification, professional meetings, etc.)
  • Over a five year period, at least 75% of the alumni of the Nutrition and Dietetics major who complete the alumni survey will report participation in some form of community service.
  • Over a five year period, at least 80% of the employers, graduate school advisors, or internship directors who return the Alumni Supervisor Survey will rate the ability of Nutrition and Dietetics graduates to "demonstrate a commitment to professional development, life-long learning, and leadership as "Good" or "Excellent".
  • Over a five year period, at least 80% of the employers, graduate school advisors, or internship directors who return the Alumni Supervisor Survey will rate the ability of Nutrition and Dietetics graduates commitment to mentoring, collaboration, and community service as "good" or "excellent
