Nate Cushman (Politics, 2005)

Nate Cushman is an associate in the Affordable Housing group at the international law firm Nixon Peabody LLP. He advises nonprofits, for-profits, and public agencies on the development, ownership, and management of affordable housing developments, helping clients secure government approvals and needed financing. His expertise focuses on federal programs such as the project-based Section 8 and Housing Choice Voucher programs, the public housing program, and loan programs administered by the Federal Housing Administration and USDA Rural Development. Based in Washington, D.C., Nate works with companies throughout the U.S. Before joining Nixon Peabody LLP in 2010, Nate earned a law degree and a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University.

Amber Jackson (Politics, 2008)

Amber Jackson graduated from Messiah in December 2008 and started law school in the fall of 2009. In May 2010, Amber became a summer associate at Horty, Springer & Mattern, P.C., one of the nation's leading health law firms. During her time at Horty Springer, she worked on a variety of health law issues spanning state and federal law. In addition to her studies, in the fall of 2010, Amber became an extern with the Honorable Judge Cheryl Allen of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. As an extern, she assisted in writing judicial opinions on appeals cases. Amber graduated from Pitt Law in 2012 and now serves as a law clerk in the Circuit Court of Maryland for Baltimore City.

Tony Holtzman (Politics, 2002)

Anthony R. Holtzman is a lawyer (partner) at K&L Gates LLP, which has offices in 47 cities on five continents.  Mr. Holtzman’s practice is focused on environmental law, constitutional law, appellate litigation, gaming law, and commercial litigation.  He regularly practices before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania’s appellate and trial courts, and the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board.

Brooke (Doman) Say (Politics, 2002)

Brooke E. D. Say is the Chair of Stock and Leader, LLP's School Law Group and practices in the areas of education (school) and employment law. In her school practice, she has developed expertise in advising school districts in special education, gifted, discipline, labor and employment, and civil rights matters. She counsels her clients through internal compliance audits and defends them in administrative hearings and federal litigation. Brooke also provides legal support to private and public employers on a variety of personnel issues, particularly on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Wage and Hour laws, and Unemployment Compensation law. She represents school districts and employers before various administrative bodies, including the Bureau of Special Education, Office of Civil Rights, the PA Human Relations Commission, and in federal and state court.

Stephen Morgan (Politics, 2000)

Stephen Morgan is a Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office currently working as a felony trial attorney. Prior to joining the D.A.'s Office, Stephen served as a prosecutor and detention operations attorney for a military police brigade in Iraq. He continues to serve as a Major in the Army JAG Corps (Reserve), working as the primary legal advisor for a logistics brigade consisting of more than 2,000 soldiers.

Jon Ellison (Politics and Spanish, 1998)

Jon Ellison worked for Habitat for Humanity in Miami and the International Foundation for Election Systems in Washington, D.C. before studying law. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 2004, Jon practiced corporate law for several years at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP in New York City and in Dubai. During this time, Jon represented institutional clients creating and investing in private equity funds, and he also served a fellowship with the Lawyers Alliance for New York, a pro bono organization that provides free corporate legal services to nonprofit groups assisting low-income communities in New York City. He then traveled internationally for a few years, working for United Nations agencies and other international development organizations as a legal consultant with the Columbia Group for Children in Adversity. In 2012 Jon moved to Austin, where he found his current position as in-house counsel for the endowment of the University of Texas System.
