Why become a nurse educator?

With the growing demand for nurse educators, there is much opportunity and job security in this area of specialization. If you are seeking meaningful work in an intellectually stimulating environment with more autonomy and schedule flexibility—then below are just some of the career paths available to you as a nurse educator:

  • Classroom or clinical instructor of undergraduate pre-licensure students
  • Clinical or classroom instructor of registered nurses pursuing undergraduate degrees
  • Clinical instructor in nurse residency programs
  • Nurse educator in professional staff development programs
  • With experience, nurse educators may also advance to administrative roles such as, managing nurse education programs, writing or reviewing textbooks and developing continuing education programs for working nurses.
