- Announcements from Human Resources about new employees; job openings; employee programs and benefits; birthdays, etc.
- Announcements sharing how employees and students are contributing to their areas of expertise and scholarship by speaking at conferences/seminars and writing books, chapters, and essays, etc.
- Announcements sharing news about significant personal events in employees’ lives: births, weddings, deaths, and retirements.
- Promotions of events featuring Messiah College students and/or employees; events sponsored by campus organizations; or events being hosted on Messiah’s campus.
- Notification of deadlines, procedures, and policies with broad campus impact.
- Individual prayer requests
- Personal or external organization’s solicitations for monetary contributions
- Advertisements for commercial purposes
Announcements about events not held at or sponsored by Messiah will only be accepted if they are received from a Messiah College employee e-mail addresses. Employees should only submit announcement on behalf of organizations or events of which they are part or have a personal affiliation with.
Items for sale, for rent, or wanted will only be accepted if they are received from a Messiah College employee e-mail address and the contact person is a Messiah College employee. The item for sale, for rent, or wanted should be a personal belonging of the employee.
The College will not accept housing listings from commercial real estate agents. College employees may submit an ad announcing the sale of their own house that provides the appropriate contact information for the agent they have contracted to sell their home.
- The deadline for submission to the Intercom is 4 p.m. on Tuesday for Thursday’s publishing date.
- All items must be submitted by e-mail to the Intercom mailbox (intercom@messiah.edu) or by using the online submission form. Attachments should be submitted as a Word document or as a PDF file.
- All class field trip lists and other student lists must be submitted by e-mail (preferably as a Word attachment).
- The Intercom staff will not accept hard-copy news items submitted via U.S. or campus mail, dictated over the telephone, or sent via fax.
- The Intercom staff will not accept requests to excerpt or write an announcement based on submitted hard copy.
- All items are subject to edit for grammar, spelling, consistency, and editorial policy. The Intercom is edited using the College’s style guidelines, based primarily on Associated Press style. Please refer to the most recent Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual or www.messiah.edu/offices/publications/guidelines.html if you have questions or concerns about editorial choices.
- By request, an announcement may run for only a maximum of two weeks.
- All announcements are subject to editing for length and/or clarity.
