Due to summer vacations, our Interlibrary Loan office will be closed the week of June 30th. Please be aware that Interlibrary loan requests will not be processed until the office reopens on July 7th. Thank you for your patience. Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service through which materials Murray Library doesn’t own may be borrowed from other libraries. Patrons are, of course, strongly urged to use our own Library resources as much as possible although the Library staff will do everything possible to locate research materials in other libraries, if needed. A Reference Librarian is glad to help you search for materials in our Library.
E-ZBorrow is a way to quickly find and borrow books from many academic libraries in Pennsylvania. Because E-ZBorrow requests go directly to the lending libraries, they are generally faster than using traditional Interlibrary Loan. NOTE: If you have overdue items at Murray Library, the system will not let you place E-ZBorrow requests.
Many patrons are already familiar with WorldCat and have used it to place Interlibrary Loan requests. ILLiad is a system linked toWorldCat that enhances processing and tracking of Interlibrary Loan requests. Through it, patrons are able to check the status of their own requests. NOTE: First-time ILLiad users must register before submitting a request.
Placing an Interlibrary Loan Request for ARTICLES
In addition to books and articles, we can place requests for:
• Student's textbooks
To Check Status of an Interlibrary Loan Request
Fees Patrons are usually not charged for ILL services. However, patrons should be aware that the average cost of an Interlibrary Loan request is $20.00, which includes shipping charges, administrative costs, staffing, and copyright clearances. Therefore, prudent use of ILL is always encouraged. (Note to faculty: Please do not require students to place ILL requests simply to get the experience).
Copies for students, staff and faculty are sent via e-mail as attachments (PDF files) whenever possible. Otherwise, photocopies are sent via campus mail.Return of loaned items All loaned items with assigned due dates should be returned at the circulation desk in Murray Library. The borrower is ultimately responsible for the loaned material. Any bills received for damaged or lost items will be charged to the patron's account. |
