Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time, by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin
In 1993, having failed in his attempt to climb K2, Greg Mortenson, weak and disoriented, stumbles into the poor, remote Pakistani village or Korphe.  After being nursed back to health by the village chief's family, Mortenson is distressed to observe that there is no village school.  Although he has no financial resources, Mortenson pledges to return to Korphe to build a school.  Upon his return to Pakistan, Mortenson learns to follow the business counsel of Korphe's chief:  "The first time you share tea with a Balti, you are a stranger, the second time, you are an honored guest. The third time you become family."
