Review of:

Blood Diamond/ Edward Zwick

This movie is a must-see for women who are about to become engaged and are coveting a big, shiny rock. Or anyone who's ever worn, purchased, or is about to purchase one.

Leonardo Dicaprio's performance as an anti-hero allowed me, for the first time, to see beyond his baby face and respect him as an actor. I appreciate any actor who can make a scoundrel sympathetic. His Rhodesian accent was somewhat annoying at first, but consistent and believable by the end of the movie. The movie is full of suspense, action, passion, and heartache. It brings the issue of African diamond mining into the living rooms of people who may have never heard of a Blood Diamond. I think that this important movie will make people, particularly young American brides-to-be, think twice about the source of their "tokens of love."
