Something From the Oven: Reinventing Dinner in 1950s America / Laura Shapiro |
Shapiro’s history of 1950s cuisine also analyzes women’s changing societal roles. She provides a well-documented account of American food, from the rise of convenience foods to the gourmet backlash. Despite the scholarly description, Shapiro’s book is readable and interesting. Anyone interested in learning about why we eat the foods we eat will enjoy this title.. |
