GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 13, 2004) —The Messiah College School of the Arts will present award-winning storyteller, Noa Baum, in "A Land Twice Promised" at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 19, in Miller Auditorium, located in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college's Grantham campus. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 5045.

In "A Land Twice Promised," storyteller Noa Baum, a native Israeli who began a dialogue with a Palestinian woman while living in the United States, weaves together a story of both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through their memories and their mothers' stories. She creates a testimony about the complex and contradictory history and emotions that surround Jerusalem for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Baum received a bachelor of fine arts degree in theater arts from Tel-Aviv University. She studied acting with Utah Hagen in New York and received a master of arts degree in educational theater from New York University. Returning to Tel-Aviv, Baum combined storytelling and drama in education. "A Land Twice Promised" received a grant from the National Storytelling Network.

This performance is part of Messiah College's Spring for the Arts festival-a community celebration of the arts at Messiah College that showcases the college's many cultural offerings.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
