Messiah College to present student recitals

GRANTHAM, Pa. (September 17, 2004) — Messiah College music students Jessica Mengel and Amy Hock will perform their student recitals at 4 and 8 p.m. respectively on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Poorman Recital Hall, located in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The recitals are free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 3310.

Lancaster native Hock is a senior music education honors student on trumpet. Her performance will consist of a lecture and a recital. She will discuss her performance pieces and speak about the differences between the baroque trumpet and the modern trumpet. The program will consist of selections from “The Hummel Concerto” for trumpet and piano as well as other baroque literature.

Junior music education major Mengel, of Fredericksburg , will perform on the french horn.

Messiah College , a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham , Pa. , near the state capital of Harrisburg . A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia .
