About the Dwight W. Thomas Composition Award

The Dwight W. Thomas Composition Award was established to encourage the creation of new musical works by Messiah College students. The award for the Fall of 2004 will again be underwritten by Thomas, composition teacher at Messiah College.  Works submitted for this competition are expected to reflect the ethos of Messiah College. An award of $300 will be given to the first place winner and $100 each for two honorable mention awards. If no work is deemed worthy of awards, no prizes will be given. Compositions will be chosen by Thomas with help from a panel of judges. Winning works will be announced at the Fall 2004 Musica Nova and, if possible, the first place work will be premiered at the Spring 2005 Musica Nova.
