GRANTHAM, Pa. (Nov 19, 2004) — Messiah College faculty member Damian Savarino will perform a voice recital on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. in Poorman Recital Hall, located in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The recital is free and open to the public. For additional information, call (717) 766-2511, ext. 3310.

Savarino, a resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa., is a graduate of Ithaca College and a current voice faculty member of Messiah College. Savarino is a talented and versatile performer in opera, operetta and oratorio. He has appeared throughout the country performing such roles as Zuniga in “Carmen” and Mr. Page in “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”

The recital focuses on Franz Schubert’s “Die Winterreise.” Selections from the performance include, “Gute Nacht,” “Die Post,” and “Der Leiermann.” Savarino will be accompanied on piano by Messiah College Dean of the School of the Arts Richard Roberson.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
