Messiah College to present student recitals in January

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Dec. 23, 2004) – Messiah College will present five student recitals in January. The recitals will be held in Poorman Recital Hall, located in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus.

  • Senior, music education student Rebecca Thomas, of Manchester, will perform a piano recital at 4 p.m. on Jan. 15. Recital selections include, “Sonata in D minor” by Domenici Scarlatti and “Estampes” by Claude Debussy as well as a two-piano piece performed by Thomas and Richard Roberson, dean of the School of the Arts, and a trio composed for piano, violin and cello, performed by Thomas, Johanna Hartman and Jonathan Desmarais.
  • Senior, music education students Joel Ross, of Waynesboro, Va., and Heidi Zimmerman, of Lebanon, will perform a voice recital at 8 p.m. on Jan. 15. Ross, a tenor, will sing art songs by Robert Ives and Samuel Barbar as well as a song from “Pirates of Penzance.” Zimmerman, a soprano, will sing art songs by Bach and Schumann as well as a song from “The Music Man.”
  • Senior, music education student Sheila Allebach, of Souderton, will perform a piano recital at 3 p.m. on Jan. 16. Allebach will play pieces by Ravel and Rachmaninoff as well as a Mozart piano duet, “Overture to L’Impresario,” with her sister, Amber Allebach.
  • Senior, music education student Benjamin Hayes, of Pottstown, will perform a euphonium recital at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16.
  • Senior, music education students Amy Hock, of Lancaster, and Fawn Upright, of Montoursville, will perform a joint student recital on trumpet and harp at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22. Hock will perform on trumpet the “Suite in D” by G.F. Handel, “Concerto in F minor” by Oskar Boehme and “Trio” by Beethoven. Upright will perform on harp “Concerto in B Flat” by Handel, “Nocturne” by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka and “Morning Serenade” from Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet.”
  • Senior, music education student Carrie Blosser, of Etters, will perform a trumpet recital at 8 p.m. on Jan. 22.
