CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Messiah College's Lost Films Society announces January schedule GRANTHAM, Pa. (Dec. 23, 2004) – The Messiah College Lost Films Society, on the on-campus film society sponsored jointly by the college’s department of communication and the Student Activities Board, will present three films during January to begin the spring semester’s Contemporary Film Series. The films will be shown Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. All films will be shown in Parmer Cinema, Messiah College’s state-of-the-art screening facility, located on the ground floor of Boyer Hall on the college’s Grantham campus. Admission to each film is $1; tickets may be purchased at the door. Additional films in this semester’s Contemporary Film Series will be announced at a later date. Contemporary Film Series “Friday Night Lights” (2004) Jan. 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Starring Billy Bob Thornton as the coach of a high school football team in Odessa, Texas, an economically depressed town that finds hope every Friday night during the fall football season. Based on the book “Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream” by H.G. Bissinger. “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” (2004) Jan. 14 and 15, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Written and directed by Kerry Conran, Gwenyth Paltrow plays a reporter in New York City who teams up with a pilot, played by Jude Law, to find out what is causing a series of attacks from giant flying robots. “Ray” (2004) Jan. 21 and 22, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Jamie Foxx stars as Ray Charles in this film about the life of the legendary musician in a story written and directed by Taylor Hackford with a screenplay by James L.
