Messiah College to present student composition recital

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 31, 2005) — The Messiah College Department of Music will present An Evening of Original Songs, a student composition recital, on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, ext. 3310.

An Evening of Original Songs will feature original contemporary compositions by several student composers, along with several guests. The styles of these compositions range from jazz to techno and pop. Student composers featured in the program include: sophomore Bryan Porter from Willingboro, N.J.; first-year Jeffrey Waters from Sykesville, Md.; sophomore Joel Brandon from Annapolis, Md.; sophomore Daniel Pratt from Grantham; junior Philip Tappan from Ballston Spa, N.Y.; and junior Brett Algera from Prospect Park, N.J. Guests will include Zachary Eyster, Ryan Reid, Andrew Ketcham and others.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
