CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Broadway songs featured at Messiah College student recital GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 3, 2005) – The Messiah College music department will present “The Lullaby of Broadway: Songs from Eight Decades of Broadway Musicals” on March 19 at 4 p.m. in Poorman Recital Hall, located in Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, call the music department at (717) 766-2511, ext. 3310. The program spans the style development of musical theater song writing from Rodgers and Hart and Irving Berlin to Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown, and Frank Wildhorn, covering many Broadway favorites. The concert will feature eight junior voice majors: Lisa Coss, from Pittsburgh; Vanessa Kinzey, from Dayton, Md.; Ann Knettler, from Elkton, Md.; Amanda Sachs, from Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; Elisha Talley, from Palmyra; and Priscilla Acosta. They will be assisted by theater majors Ryan Reid, from Hummelstown, Kyle Yackoski, from Lake Ariel, and Adam Brock, as well as music major Schuyler Helm, from Newport. Pianists for the event will be Erin Black, from Renfrew; Erin Montross, from Dallas; Jeff Waters, from Sykesville, Md.; Grace Li and Chia-chien Hsaio. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
