GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 23, 2005) — The Messiah College School of the Arts and the department of music will present “A Celebration in Brass,” the annual spring concert of the Messiah College Brass Choir on April 8 at 8 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel, located on the college’s Grantham campus. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 3310.

The concert will feature the Messiah College Brass Choir under the direction of William Stowman. Other college brass groups will also perform, including the Trumpet Ensemble, which recently competed as national semi-finalists at the National Trumpet Competition in Fairfax, Va. The concert will also feature the Horn Ensemble under the direction of Jeremy Buss. There will be a special guest performance by the Cedar Cliff High School Brass Choir under the direction of Carrie Blosser, a senior music education major at Messiah. The program will include small ensemble works and major works for brass and antiphonal music featuring all performers.

The department of music at Messiah College is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The department offers majors in music and music education. Through a variety of junior and senior recitals and choral and instrumental ensembles, students gain performing experience both on and off campus.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
