GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 23, 2005) — The Messiah College Honors Program, in conjunction with the Central Pennsylvania Forum on Religion and Science, will host a lecture by Princeton University professor and author Robert P. George on “Faith and Reason in the Public Square” at Messiah College on April 11 at 7 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel, located on the college’s Grantham campus. The event is free and open to the public. George is a McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. A graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School, George earned a doctorate in philosophy of law from Oxford University. He is the author of numerous books, including “Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality” and “In Defense of Natural Law.” His articles and review essays have appeared in the “Harvard Law Review,” the “Yale Law Journal” and the “ Columbia Law Review,” among others, and he has also written for the “Washington Post,” the “Wall Street Journal” and the “ Boston Review.” He has received many awards and prizes for scholarly and civic achievement, and currently serves on the President’s Council on Bioethics. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
