CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow President's Concert to be held at Messiah College GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 14, 2005) — The Messiah College department of music will present its President’s Concert on May 1 at 3 p.m. in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The program will feature the college’s Trumpet Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds. The concert is free and open to the public. The President’s Concert will feature soprano saxophonist and college artist-in-residence, Tim Warfield; pianist and college music instructor, Kirk Reese; drummer, Jeff Stabley; and bass player, Steven Meashey. The Trumpet Ensemble is a select group that performs for on- and off-campus events including the National Trumpet Competition held annually in Fairfax, Va. The Percussion Ensemble consists of 10 to 12 members performing standard percussion and marimba ensemble repertoire each semester. The Symphonic Winds is a concert band that consists of approximately 90 players while the Wind Ensemble is comprised of approximately 45 players. Both groups perform wind band literature including a mix of secular and sacred works, standards and newly commissioned works. Each band performs three on-campus concerts annually in addition to recording and some off-campus performances. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
