Nursing panel discussion on end of life care to be held at Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2005) – Messiah College will hold a panel discussion on end of life care and the varying roles nurses play, sponsored by local chapters of Sigma Theta Tau – an honor society of nursing – and the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, Districts 15 and 16. This panel discussion will be held on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Alexander Auditorium of Frey academic building, located on the college’s Grantham campus. Katherine Dawson, a nurse practitioner at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for palliative care, will be moderating the discussion. Other panelists include: Judy Lyter, independent practitioner and counselor for the chronically ill; Amy Clucher, Hospice nurse for the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania; and Janice Penrod, assistant nursing professor at Penn State University.

All nurses and allied health professionals are welcome to attend this educational program. For registered nurses who attend, the Pennsylvania State Nursing Association will award contact hours and will provide continuing education units.
