Messiah College to present student recital, Musica Nova
GRANTHAM, Pa. (Nov. 15, 2005) — The Messiah College School of the Arts will present Musica Nova, a bi-annual student composition recital, on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. in Poorman Recital Hall, located on the college’s Grantham campus. The recital is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided after the program. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 3310.
Musica Nova will feature original compositions by several student composers. The style of these compositions ranges from acoustic to experimental. The program includes a section devoted strictly to new electronic music, which will feature both live and pre-recorded selections. Student composers featured in the program include: junior Joel Brandon from Annapolis, Md; junior Dan Pratt from Grantham, Pa; junior Robert Kerr from North Huntington, Pa; sophomore Jeff Waters from Sykesville, Md; freshman Andrew Bargh from Mechanicsburg, Pa; and freshman Timothy Brensinger from Grantham, Pa.
Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
