CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Messiah College School of the Arts announces three April concerts GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 10, 2006) — The Messiah College School of the Arts will present three concerts throughout the month of April featuring the Jazz Combos, Brass Choir and Concert Choir. Admission to each concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 3310. Concert highlights April 6, 8 p.m., Poorman Recital Hall, Climenhaga Fine Arts Center Messiah College Jazz Combo will present an evening of jazz, including instrumental and vocal jazz. Under the direction of Kirk Reese, professor of music at Messiah College, the Jazz Combo will combine various styles of music, ranging from swing to Latin, ballads to funk/fusion. The concert will also feature an original collaboration with Messiah College Kingdom Steppers. Refreshments will be served. April 7, 8 p.m., Hostetter Chapel The Messiah College Brass Choir will present its annual spring concert. Under the direction of William Stowman, director of instrumental studies at Messiah College, the program will include sacred and secular music for brass choir, trumpet ensemble and brass quintet. The Brass Choir will be joined by special guest, Northern Lebanon Elementary School’s Brass Choir, which is under the direction of Messiah College alumna Deb Mengel. April 9, 3 p.m., Hostetter Chapel The Messiah College Concert Choir will perform a variety of selections for its spring concert, including Mozart’s “Lacrymosa” in honor of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth. In addition, the choir will perform several sacred selections as well as folksongs and spirituals. The choir is directed by Linda Tedford, director of choral activities at Messiah College. About Messiah College Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
