GRANTHAM, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2006) — Entering its 61st season, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society will hold public auditions in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus on Nov. 16 from 6:30-9 p.m. and Nov. 17 from 3-5 p.m.  Singers need to prepare a piece for the audition.  An accompanist will be provided. Rehearsals for the chorus’ annual performance, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem,” will be Tuesdays from 7-9:15 p.m., beginning Jan. 16 in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center.  The performance will be on April 22 at 3 p.m.  For more information or to schedule an audition, call (717) 691-6027, ext. 1.

The Choral Arts Society, a college and community choir comprised of Messiah College students and community members from central Pa., is conducted by Linda Tedford, director of choral activities at Messiah College and the founder/director of the Susquehanna Chorale, the resident chamber choir of Harrisburg’s Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, and the Susquehanna Youth Chorale, based in Hershey, Pa. Tedford also conducts Messiah College’s Concert Choir and teaches conducting and voice. 

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
