Panel of Messiah College alumni to discuss vocations in human sexuality

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Feb. 16, 2007) — In a panel presentation sponsored by Messiah College’s department of human development and family science, four alumni will speak concerning vocational options available for family science graduates, particularly in relation to human sexuality studies, on March 5 at 4:30 p.m. in Parmer Cinema, located in Boyer Hall academic building on the college’s Grantham campus. All are invited to attend; no tickets are necessary. Guidance counselors, high school students and family and consumer science teachers are strongly encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Raeann Hamon at (717) 796-1800, extension 2850.

The panelists will be addressing many aspects of their current careers: Krista Felty `98 as a community educator for Planned Parenthood of the Blue Ridge in Roanoke, Va., Jennifer Grove `97 as an online resource specialist with the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, Malia Meiser `02 as an abstinence education director for the Capital Area Pregnancy Center and Jen Ransil `95 as a marriage and family therapist.  The panelists will focus on how their education and faith interface with their daily work.

Students are especially encouraged to participate in order to gain a broader perspective of career directions available after graduation, as well as to be given a renewed sense of the importance of such careers.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
