GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 8, 2007) — The Gender Studies Project at Messiah College will host its annual Riegsecker Lecture featuring speaker Immaculee Ilibagiza, Rwandan holocaust survivor, author and United Nations Development Program member. The lecture will be held on March 29 at 7 p.m. in Parmer Cinema, located in Boyer Hall on Messiah College’s Grantham campus. The lecture will be followed by a book signing and reception. This event is free, but tickets are required. Reserve a ticket by calling the college ticket office at (717) 691-6036. Ilibagiza will speak about gender and leadership as she shares her miraculous story of how she survived during the Rwanda genocide. In her captivating and inspiring book, “Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust,” Ilibagiza shares the experience of when she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor’s house for 91 days. Four years after the Rwandan tragedy, Ilibagiza immigrated to the United States and began working for the United Nations in New York City. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.# # # ARTICLE DATE: THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 2007
