Student and faculty research featured at School of Education and Social Sciences first annual scholarship day at Messiah College

GRANTHAM, Pa. (March 22, 2007) — Students and faculty from a variety of disciplines will present their creative and innovative research at Messiah College's School of Education and Social Sciences first annual scholarship day on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college's Grantham campus.  With emphasis on areas of education; psychology; human development and family science; sociology; social work; and criminal justice, a variety of faculty and student publications, professional papers and poster sessions, field and community-based research and academic discipline portfolios will be presented throughout the day. Lunch is available for guests. For more information about this scholarship day or to reserve lunch, contact theckman@messiah.edu or (717) 796-5068 by April 4.

Academic majors represented at the scholarship day include early childhood education, elementary education, special education, biopsychology, criminal justice, social work, human development and family science, family and consumer sciences education, psychology and sociology.  The Harrisburg Institute for Community Research and Collaborative Partnerships, an initiative established to create partnerships between the college and community agencies in Harrisburg, and the Early Learning Center, an on-campus childcare center and lab school, also fall under the umbrella of the School of Education and Social Sciences and will be part of the Scholarship Day presentations.  Maps of the displays and presentations involved will be available at the door.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
