GRANTHAM, Pa. (April 13, 2007) — Messiah College presents an evening with comedian Brian Regan on May 5 at 8 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium, located in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Tickets are $35 for general admission; to purchase tickets, call the college ticket office at (717) 691-6036 or visit messiah.musictoday.com.

As a kid, Brian Regan developed a fascination with stand-up comedy from influences such as Johnny Carson and Steve Martin because of their silly, but smart, comedic genius. However it was not until Regan’s freshman year at Heilderberg College in Tiffin, Ohio that he began to dream of becoming a comedian. In the early 80’s, Regan started performing at small comedy clubs close to his hometown of Miami, Fla. He would begin the night with his stand-up act and often wrap up his show early to resume his job of being a busboy, a dishwasher and a cook at the club. During the mid-80’s Regan found plenty of work performing at larger clubs and eventually moved to New York City in 1986 to sharpen his skills and make a name for himself in the New York scene. The move paid off and he won $10,000 in the K-Rock-Miller Lite Funniest Person in New York contest in 1989. After winning the award, Regan gained headliner status and started to make national television appearances on MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour, Arsenio Hall and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Recently, Regan’s highlights have included his own television specials on both Showtime and Comedy Central, being featured in Coca Cola’s Concession Stand Comedy in movie theatres throughout the country, regular appearances on both Conan O’Brien and the Late Show with David Letterman and opening regularly in the nation’s best theatres for Jerry Seinfeld.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
