Family science professionals share vocational insights on Messiah College panel

GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2007) — In an interactive panel, “Family Science Professionals in the World: Vocations Working with Adolescents,” three human development and family science (HDFS) graduates of Messiah College will share their vocational roles, job descriptions and titles, explaining how the HDFS program prepared them for their present careers as well as how their faith and their work overlap. The panel will be held in Parmer Cinema, located in the Boyer Hall academic building on the college’s Grantham campus, on Oct. 17 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. A brief session of questions and answers will follow the lecture.

The panelists are Hillary Amici, family and consumer sciences teacher in the Central Dauphin school district; Judith Turnbaugh, protective services supervisor from Dauphin County Social Services for Children and Youth; and Marcus J. Washington, family-based mental health therapist of Pennsylvania Counseling Services.

Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
