CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Messiah College presents percussion ensemble and horn choir in concert GRANTHAM, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2007) — The Messiah College percussion ensemble and horn choir will present their winter concert on Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel, located on the college’s Grantham campus. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Messiah College music office at (717) 766-2511, ext. 3310. The Messiah College percussion ensemble, a chamber group comprised of both percussion majors and non-majors, will open the performance and feature the Pennsylvania premier of Robert Kohen's “Homeland Security Suite.” This six-movement work creates an auditory depiction of the increasing threat levels used for our nation's security alert system. Also included are works by composers David Friedman, Dave Samuels, John Alfieri and Sting. The horn choir will present original and transcribed works for double quartet by Bedrich Muller, Francis McKay, Luigi Denza, Antonin Dvorak, Pietro Mascagni and Georges Bizet. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in 55 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
