CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Messiah College presents the rich sounds of brass in winter concert GRANTHAM, Pa. (Nov. 16, 2007) — The Messiah College brass choir will present their annual winter concert on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Hostetter Chapel on the college’s Grantham campus. Admission is free and open to the public. For further information about the concert, contact the Messiah College department of music at (717) 766-2511, ext. 3310. Under the direction of Michael A. Harcrow, assistant professor of music at Messiah College, the group will perform a program of sacred and secular music for the full brass choir in addition to performances by the trumpet ensemble and student brass quintets. In addition to festive holiday pieces, works to be performed include “Aubade” by American composer Steven Winteregg, “Fanfares” by Andre Ameller and the well-known “Sine Nomine” by Ralph Vaughn Williams. The department of music at Messiah College is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The department offers majors in music and music education with concentrations in church music, performance, composition, commercial music and arts management. Through a variety of junior and senior recitals and choral and instrumental ensembles, students gain performing experience both on- and off-campus. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in 55 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
