CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Messiah College Choral Arts Society holds final auditions GRANTHAM, Pa. (Dec. 21, 2007) — Entering its 62nd season, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society will hold public auditions in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus on Jan. 8 from 6-8 p.m. Singers need to prepare a piece for the audition. An accompanist will be provided. Rehearsals for the performance featuring J.S. Bach’s “Cantata No. 140, Sleepers Awake” and Dietrich Buxtehude’s “Jesu, Meine Freude” will be Tuesdays from 7-9:15 p.m. beginning Jan. 22 in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center. The performance will be on April 27 at 3 p.m. For more information or to schedule an audition, call (717) 691-6027. The Choral Arts Society, a college and community choir comprised of Messiah College students and community members from central Pa., is conducted by Linda Tedford, director of choral activities at Messiah College, the founder/director of the Susquehanna Chorale (the resident chamber choir of Harrisburg’s Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts) and the Susquehanna Youth Chorale, based in Hershey, Pa. Tedford also conducts Messiah College’s Concert Choir and teaches conducting and voice. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls 2,800 undergraduate students in 55 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
