        all parts white to cream-colored .....................................................................................Irpex lacteus

    3. Caplike portion of sessile or effused-reflexed basidiocarp more than 1 cm long, whitish or not

        4. Pileus zonate, margin not radially striate; upper surface white to gray to pale brown but may
            be greenish due to algae; pores whitish when young, ashy grey to smoky with age; thin dark line
            in context below the pubescence of the cap surface ................................................Cerrena unicolor

        4. Pileus azonate or faintly zonate, margin radially striate; upper surface creamy white to
            yellowish buff; pores cream to yellowish buff; no thin dark line in context below the
            pubescence of the cap surface .............................................................................Trametes pubescens
