Alumni Council

2011 Alumni Council

2010-2011 Alumni Council

Purpose

The purpose of the Messiah College Alumni Council is to provide an opportunity for enthusiastic alumni to become more engaged with and serve the needs of the College, specifically the Office of Alumni Relations.  Membership on the Council is a privilege and prospective members must complete an application and interview process to be considered for membership.

Membership

The Alumni Council is composed of approximately 30 members representing a variety of geographic regions, class years, areas of expertise, and interests. Members serve a three-year term and may succeed only once unless appointed as an officer.

New Council Structure

The Alumni & Parent Relations Office, in conjunction with the Office of College Development, has established a new model for the Alumni Council, which will better serve the needs of the College as a whole and these two offices in particular.  The new Alumni Council structure will be comprised of three primary groups (based on age) and five committees (based on purpose). Committees will be populated from alumni from all three of the primary groups.  Alumni Council leadership will consist of a Council-wide Chair and Co-Chair.

PRIMARY GROUPS

  1. Recent Alumni—This group will be comprised of alumni who have graduated within the past ten years.
  2. General Alumni—This group will be comprised of alumni from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
  3. Golden Alumni—This group will be comprised of anyone who graduated in 1969 or before.

COMMITTEES

  1. Communication—This committee will work on tasks related to improving communication with alumni.
  2. Alumni Participation—This committee will work on tasks related to increasing alumni participation.
  3. Admissions—This committee will work on tasks related to recruiting students and assisting Admissions.
  4. Events and Engagement—This committee will work on tasks related to event planning, volunteering on campus, and keeping alumni engaged.
  5. Mentoring and Networking—This committee will work on tasks related to pairing alumni with students in mentoring and networking/job recruiting relationships.

Operation

The Alumni Council meets twice a year (fall and spring semesters) on campus. Council members are also expected to attend and assist with key alumni events and/or serve in some other significant volunteer capacity.
