“Exuberant Accountant” makes a wise investment
Messiah College Trustee Scott Heintzelman ’89 is exuberant about life—his faith, his family, his work, and his alma mater. He’s also exuberant about supporting Messiah College and encouraging others to do the same.
Through the Alumni Centennial Challenge, Heintzelman and fellow Trustees aren’t just talking about giving—they’re offering a $100,000 challenge grant that will match new and increased gifts from alumni, through June 30. “This challenge is not just about a transactional act of giving. No, it’s much more than that—it’s about providing an ultimate gift that transforms lives. I have met so many students whose lives have been changed at Messiah College, and I am blessed to know that my gift is a small part of that. How could alumni not want to invest as well?”
Currently, only 1 out of 5 alumni support Messiah in any given year. The Trustees are offering the Alumni Centennial Challenge to inspire more alumni to give back. Through June 30, new and increased gifts to the annual fund will have twice the impact, thanks to the matching grant.
Heintzelman urges, “Even if you think your gift would be too small to make a difference, please give something. When Messiah applies for grants and gifts from foundations and corporations, they ask ‘what percentage of alumni are giving?’ They do not ask how much. They want to see that our alumni had a positive experience at the school and that they give back. A small gift from every alum could translate to very large gifts and grants that make a huge difference.”
All new or increased gifts from alumni will be matched dollar for dollar through June 30. More than $70,000 has already been pledged toward the $100,000 goal, and you can help us receive the full value of the challenge grant. To find out how much you need to give to participate, contact Rachel Pease, director of annual giving, at 717-796-5066 or RPease@messiah.edu. Or, give now at www.messiah.edu/gifts.
